mydentist, the largest provider of NHS dentistry in the UK, has launched online booking across the UK to help families and individuals make appointments with NHS dentists and improve access to dental care across the UK.
The move follows figures released today by Public Health England that show the number of five-year-olds suffering from tooth decay has dropped to its lowest level in almost a decade. Less than 25 per cent of the age group now suffers from tooth decay, a 20 per cent drop since 2008.
mydentist clinical services director Steve Williams said: “The figures from Public Health England show we are making headway with improving the dental health of the nation and we want to support that trend.
“We’re accepting new NHS patients at hundreds of practices across the UK and we’ve introduced online booking to make it easier for people to make appointments with NHS dentists and receive the care they are entitled to.
“People can find a local practice by visiting our website www.mydentist.co.uk and make an appointment for themselves or their families.”
Mydentist has more than 670 practices and is the first UK-wide brand in dentistry. Over the past 18-months it has invested in updating all of its practices to reflect the new brand and ensure a consistent patient experience wherever the dentist is located.
Williams said: “With our online system people can easily find the closest dentist to them that is taking on new NHS patients and book an appointment. And they know that their experience when they come to see us will also be a good one – indeed more than nine out of ten of our patients would recommend us to family and friends.”
