How long do you have to wear self-ligating braces for?
The length of treatment with fixed braces varies but is typically around 18 to 24 months.
Unlike clear aligners, fixed braces are attached to your teeth for the whole of your treatment. You should not try to remove them yourself, as you could damage your teeth and your treatment progress.
Like other forms of fixed braces, self-ligating braces still require periodic adjustments. During these adjustments, your clinician will evaluate your progress and may also adjust your appliance. These adjustments modify the pressure placed on your teeth, helping them to gradually align.
