Welcome to {my}dentist Chester a friendly 7 surgery practice on Upper Northgate Street. You can find us opposite the blue coat hospital next to the Chester canal. There is a multistorey car park situated around the corner from the practice. There is a lift at the front of the building for disabled access. We have 11 clinicians on site that offer a wide range of NHS and private treatments including our {my}options affordable private scheme and our pay monthly Dental Plan. Some of the private treatments we provide include Teeth Straightening using clear braces (ClearCorrect & Invisalign), Dental Implants including Smile in a day, Endodontics, Teeth Whitening (Enlighten & Philips Zoom), Facial Aesthetics anti ageing treatments), Composite Bonding & Hygiene. We have two treatment co-ordinators on hand to guide you through your treatment journey. Steph and Lucy are here to make your patient journey as smooth and easy as possible. They can assist with finance options to help make your dental treatment more affordable and to answer any questions.{my}dentist Chester offers free 3D digital scans that are delivered by our highly trained dental nurses.

  • Dr.Alex Farrow-Hamblen Qualified from: BSc First class Hon Degree University of Leeds, 2020 GDC No: 290681
    Originally from Teesside, Alex began his undergraduate training at the University of Leeds in 2013, successfully gaining a BSc First Class Hons Degree in Human Physiology (2016) before beginning his rigorous dental training at the University of Central Lancashire’s School of Medicine & Dentistry. Training for four years at Carlisle Dental Education Centre, Alex provided the full scope of general dentistry to patients in an NHS capacity, graduating in 2020 with a First Class - now working as an NHS & Private Dentist supporting patients in Chester & the Wirral. Alex has published several articles and international journal features on topics such as clinical professionalism, patient-centred care & dentures; having a particular interest in effective patient communication, dental phobia, restoring the terminal dentition & treatment-planning for those patients with additional or complex medical & social needs. Alex is also trained in the use of Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) in a dental setting, simple removable orthodontics (removable braces) and is working towards further qualifications in the restoration of simple dental implants & complex exodontia (surgical extractions).
  • Dr.David Gillbanks Qualified from: BSC England, 2015 GDC No: 258561
    Dr David Gillbanks qualified with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Liverpool in 2009 in Human Anatomy and Cell Biology. After spending several years as a care worker he went on to study dentistry and qualified in 2015 with a BDS (Hons) from the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, having lived and studied in Exeter, Plymouth and Truro. He began working for {my}dentist in 2016 at the Rock Ferry branch before transferring to Chester full-time in 2017. He generally takes a minimally-invasive approach to treatment with a holistic focus on oral health. David also offers simple orthodontic treatment using the Invisalign Go and Clear Correct aligner systems, and offers treatment in Denture Of Excellence to patients at the practice with specific care to patients personal needs. Dr gillbanks is also qualified to perform simple restoration of implants.
  • Dr.Krishan Varma (Varma Clinical Soultions Limited) (Dental Implant Surgeon) Qualified from: BDS Manc 2007 England, 2007 GDC No: 113646
    Dr Varma is an experienced implantologist who visits several clinics across the country to provide implant treatment. He qualified from Manchester University in 2007 and since then he has been dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to his patients. In 2009-2011 he completed three year-long training programmes in restorative and implant dentistry in Manchester with restorative specialist Dr Paul Tipton, and was also awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons. He then continued with a further degree in Dental Implantology at the University of Central Lancashire, leading to the award of Master of Science with Merit in 2014. He is an active member of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), The International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD).
  • Dr.Stamatios Kioufis Qualified from: University of Athens Greece, 2007 GDC No: 207305
    Dr Kioufis’ journey started in 2007 when qualified from the Dental School of University of Athens. After mandatory service as a military dentist in the military hospital in Chios he started working as an associate in several practices in Athens. In the first years of his career he realised that a lot of the population suffered from periodontal problems and that lead him to a practice dedicated to diagnosing and managing periodontal disease. After relocating in the UK in 2011 he decided to update his knowledge further and increase his skills for difficult cases that needs more sophisticated approach. Completion of this journey in 2017 resulted in obtaining a Diplomate status in clinical periodontics from the University of Central Lancashire. His goal is to manage patient’s periodontal problems pain free providing minimal invasive procedures. The next step in his career is further training in Implant Dentistry and how to manage complications around Implants and soft tissue defects. He is an Associate Fellow of the prestigious College of General Dentistry and an active member of the European Federation of Periodontics. He spends his free time with his family and is a keen table tennis player.
  • Dr.Stefan Vasile Stefanescu Qualified from: Qualified from: University of Oradea, Romania, 2001 Romania, 2001 GDC No: 274517
    Before relocating in the UK he worked in several practices in Romania with special interest in Endodontics, Prosthetics and Esthetics. From 2010 he dedicated himself to postgraduate courses and research in the field of Endodontics, publishing scientific papers published in Switzerland, Romania, France, Australia, Ireland and Italy. Stefan started working in the UK in 2018, covering all aspects of Dentistry. In November 2018 he attended the International Endodontic Congress in Milan, with a poster presentation. He is now studying Endodontics at Chester University being in year 3 of MSc. Stefan is a reviewer for the: International Journal of Public Health and Epidemiology Research, Open Access Journal of Dental Sciences, International Research Journal of Dentistry, Journal of Dental Reports, Asian Journal of Dental Sciences, Journal of Clinical Case Studies, Journal of Dental Reports, Journal of Dental Research and Management and Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International. He is the editor of 2 international journals. Stefan is member of the British Society of Endodontists (BES). Stefan has a caring and understanding attitude to make visiting the dentist a more positive experience, even for the most nervous and anxious patients.
  • Dr.Susan McBride Qualified from: Belf United Kingdom, 2012 GDC No: 227417
    Miss Susan McBride Qualified from: Queens University Belfast, BDS, RSCI, Dip Rest Dentistry Susan graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2012 and undertook some hospital posts and further training in oral surgery before returning to full time general practice. Since graduating she has been passionate about furthering her knowledge and skills and undertaken a restorative dentistry course with Tipton Training. Alongside this she has also undertaken lots of composite courses to help patients who wish to make improvements to their smile. Susan is also an approved Invisalign, Clear Correct and Six Month Smiles provider helping patients who want to enhance their smile through short term orthodontic treatments. For over 4 years she has also been undertaking facial aesthetics treatments to improve patients’ confidence. Out of work Susan enjoys cycling and cuddles with her dog Noodle the Labradoodle.
  • Mr.Hussameldien Hussien Qualified from: BDS Sudan, 2010 GDC No: 246164
    Dr Hussam Hussien BDS, MFDS RCS Ed, MFGDP UK, MSc R&A, PGCert Clin Ed Hussam is a proficient dentist, experienced in Restorative and Aesthetic dentistry, dental implants, and aesthetic orthodontics. He graduated in 2010 and has gained a Masters in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry from the University of Manchester in 2017. He has attended the Dental Implant Diploma by the Royal College of Surgeons, with emphasis on maintaining consistent and predictable high-quality results, using advanced and up to date practices. He was awarded the diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, as well as the diploma of the Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He is also a member of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and is a founding member of the College of General Dentistry. After achieving a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh, Hussam engaged in clinical teaching for overseas dentists, along with dentists in the North West Deanery.   • Mr.Aristomenis Moumtzis Qualified from: Ovidius University, Constantza, Romania Romania, 2001 GDC No: 172897
    Aris graduated from Ovidius University in 2001. After working some years in Greece in a private practice he decided to move to England in 2009 to pursue a postgraduate degree. Until 2012 he worked at a mixed NHS and private clinic in Essex. He was then accepted in Manchester University for a Master Degree in Endodontics. Aris joined [{my}dentist as soon as he graduated from his MSc and embarked on a journey to set up a referral network for endodontic treatment with amazing support of his colleagues and practice manager. He is also sharing his knowledge at Manchester University Dental Hospital as a Clinical Fellow in the postgraduate programme of Endodontics. Aris says “I do what I enjoy, root canal treatments and everything related to them.”

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

  • Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.

  • Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.

  • Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.

  • Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.

  • Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.

  • Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.
