Children at a school in Hartlepool were treated to a lesson in oral hygiene recently, courtesy of mydentist. The chain's mobile classroom is touring the country, providing kids with the opportunity to learn more about dental health and prepare them for dental visits. Last week, mydentists's mobile classroom stopped off at Kingsley Primary School to enable the children to learn more about subjects including healthy eating and teeth cleaning. During the session the children took turns to become dentists and dental patients, practising their skills in the dental chair and learning more about what going to a dental appointment involves. The mobile classroom scheme is designed to show children that going to the dentist doesn't have to be a scary experience. It can actually be fun and it's important for healthy teeth and gums. During the day, more than 200 children made use of the facility and Anita Bonser-Hall, a teacher at the school, said the event was a great success. The children had fun pretending to be dentist and patients, but they also learned some valuable lessons that hopefully will stay with them. The exercise also helped kids who haven't been to the dentist before learn more about what a dental check-up involves. Hopefully, they will now feel more confident about paying their dentist a visit.
