Zero tolerance policy

At mydentist, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors and colleagues.

We understand that dental treatment can sometimes be stressful and that patients may occasionally feel anxious, upset or frustrated. Our teams will always aim to listen, treat people fairly and support them wherever possible.

In return, we ask everyone who interacts with our practices and support teams to treat others with courtesy and respect.

Behaviour we will not tolerate

We operate a zero tolerance approach to behaviour that threatens the safety, wellbeing or dignity of our colleagues, patients or visitors.

This includes:

  • Verbal abuse, swearing or personal insults.
  • Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
  • Harassment or discrimination of any kind.
  • Violence, attempted violence or damage to property.
  • Persistent behaviour that disrupts our ability to provide services safely and effectively.

If unacceptable behaviour occurs

Where appropriate, we will try to de-escalate situations and give individuals an opportunity to modify their behaviour.

However, depending on the seriousness of the incident, we may:

  • Issue a warning.
  • Restrict methods of contact.
  • Restrict access to services.
  • Remove a patient from our practice list.
  • Involve the police where criminal behaviour has occurred or is suspected.

Any action taken will be proportionate and based on the circumstances of the incident.

Equality and reasonable adjustments

We recognise that some behaviours may be influenced by health conditions, disabilities or communication needs. Where appropriate, we will consider individual circumstances and make reasonable adjustments. However, this does not extend to behaviour that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory or places others at risk.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
