Our Charitable Partners
At mydentist we are proud to support two key charity partners, Dementia UK and Bridge2Aid.
In 2021, we began fundraising for Dementia UK after more than 2,000 mydentist colleagues picked the charity as our official partner.
We also have a longstanding relationship with Bridge2Aid, who provide a sustainable solution to basic dentistry needs in remote communities overseas and across the UK.
Dementia UK
Maintaining good oral health is important for everyone, helping prevent problems like cavities, infections, and pain. However, people with dementia are more prone to tooth decay and gum disease. This may be because they find it difficult to follow an oral hygiene routine, or because they cannot express that they have a toothache, meaning problems go untreated. Through activities such as sponsored walks, head shaves, car washes and more, our teams are raising funds for Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses who give practical support and advice to carers.
Bridge2Aid
Oral diseases affect around 3.5 billion people worldwide, disproportionately impacting the most disadvantaged populations, typically in remote rural areas. Bridge2Aid coordinates volunteer efforts from the UK to train local healthcare workers in dentistry, providing communities with life-saving access to emergency dental care for the first time. We support this charity by donating every time we successfully refer a dentist or dental nurse and by funding volunteer placements for our team members to work with Bridge2Aid.
Charity fundraising prior to 2021
Prior to 2021, our official charity partner was Cancer Research UK. Over four years, our teams and colleagues across the UK raised funds to support important research projects. In total, we raised more than £300,000 through a range of activities, such as charity runs and cycles.
