What is the recruitment process like for a dental nurse?

After you complete your application, a mydentist recruiter, will reach out to you to arrange an initial phone call. You will then be invited into the practice for a face-to-face interview. You are likely to be offered a tour around the practice as part of your visit and the opportunity to meet some key members of the team. After your practice visit, we will make the decision on whether we would like to proceed in making an offer and contact you to let you know the outcome of your application.

Do you cover CPD, GDC and Indemnity?

Yes, mydentist does cover CPD, GDC and indemnity as benefits for our employees.

What is an advanced dental nurse?

At mydentist, we have a structured dental nurse career path. An advanced dental nurse is someone who has completed a post-qualification or combination of post-qualifications, therefore bringing additional value to the nursing team and practice as a result and are therefore considered "advanced". There is no limit to how many advanced dental nurses can work in one practice.

What is a head dental nurse?

Head nurse is the most senior role in our structure for dental nurses. It is the supervisory role, where a dental nurse acts as a team leader, and is an opportunity found in larger teams.

How can I access post qualifications?

Dental nurses at mydentist are actively encouraged to seek further qualifications if they are interested in developing their skillset. We have in place a professional qualification policy and application process that ensures our dental nurses can access funding for relevant training courses via the Academy – our in-house training facility.

Who funds post qualifications?

In many cases, mydentist can fully fund relevant additional dental nurse qualifications you would like to undertake during your time with us.

How can I access an orthodontic therapy qualification?

At mydentist, we provide funds for several dental nurses to complete the orthodontic therapy qualification each year. To pursue this qualification, a dental nurse would need to have experience of nursing in an orthodontic setting and have completed the relevant radiography and orthodontic post-qualifications. This opportunity is reserved for our existing qualified dental nurses and is not open to external candidates.

What opportunities are available to advance a career in dental nursing?

At mydentist, we provide a range of career options for dental nurses to consider. For those who wish to pursue a role with more exposure to patients, there are oral health educator opportunities. There are also opportunities in orthodontic therapy through a vocational qualification. Hygiene and therapy qualifications are typically only available through full time study at a university. For those not seeking a clinical role there are non-clinical opportunities available, many of our practice managers have been dental nurses. Beyond moving into practice management, we also offer area management opportunities and a wide range of opportunities in departments such as regulation and compliance, acquisitions and more.
