Dentist with special interest (DWSI)

Are you a dentist wanting to develop a special interest in orthodontics?

Clinical team structures can include dentists with special interest depending on the type of NHS contract and other factors within a practice. As part of our recruitment process all clinicians are booked on to a clinical call with a member of our clinical leadership team.

We will work with you to understand your level of experience so we can identify the appropriate pathway and support
Dentist with special interest are supported to achieve their clear aligner aspirations
Monthly peer review support is in place to support on-going development

We have an orthodontic therapist in our clinical development advisor team specifically supporting your career development.

Our orthodontic therapist model is an employed role, we offer outstanding rewards and benefits as part of the package which includes;

Trainee orthodontic therapist

Are you looking to train as an orthodontic therapist?

At mydentist we support our colleagues in growing the career that is right for them.

When an opportunity arises for someone to be sponsored to complete the orthodontic therapist qualification, we offer this opportunity to our dental nurses
If you are determined to train to become an orthodontic therapist then you would firstly need to join mydentist as dental nurse
Then gain experience supporting orthodontics
We would recommend you complete the nurse post qualification in orthodontics
Post qualifications are funded through our further study policy

Orthodontic nurse

Are you looking for a new dental nursing opportunity? Seeking a fresh challenge and something different?

Consider a dental nurse opportunity supporting orthodontics
You would have the opportunity to complete post qualifications in radiography and orthodontics
For this reason a high proportion of dental nurses in orthodontic practices are advance nurses
Advance nurse is level 7 in our nurse career pathway
Where there is the opportunity to be sponsored to train as an orthodontic therapist, this opportunity is only available to our existing dental nurses
At anyone time we tend to have five colleagues completing their orthodontic therapist diploma

Rachael – Orthodontic Therapist
Meet Rachael, an orthodontic therapist who values learning. She has completed several courses since 2011, including a diploma in 2019 and Align Technology in 2022. Rachael enjoys debond appointments and works in a polyclinic with a great team to provide efficient treatment. Rachael has an additional role as Clinical Development Advisor, representing orthodontic therapists on our clinical leadership team.
