Record number of clinicians join {my}dentist

A record number of clinicians have joined {my}dentist since the Coronavirus pandemic as dentists seek to combine the security of an NHS contract, the stability of the largest provider of dentistry in the country, and the support to build a career that is right for them.

In September, 163 new dentists joined {my}dentist, the highest monthly total on record, and a further 300 clinicians are set to join before the end of the year.

{my}dentist is actively recruiting self-employed dentists as well as increasing the number of employed positions across its 597 UK practices.

Nyree Whitley, group clinical director at {my}dentist said: “Dentists tell us they’ve been attracted to {my}dentist because we can offer the security of an NHS contract, as well as greater stability and support. This includes offering mentoring and training opportunities to help clinicians build their careers.

“Our new clinicians have also told us that they wanted to join the team because they’ve been impressed by how we’re responding to the pandemic. As a practising clinician, that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.”

{my}dentist has invested to ensure its teams and patients are safe in practice by introducing a comprehensive chain of protective measures, including protective screens, hand sanitiser stations, high-volume aspiration, and enhanced personal protective equipment. More recently, {my}dentist has invested £1.25m to ensure every surgery across its network has air filtration units which allow the fallow period to be reduced, allowing clinicians to grow their private incomes and for more patients to get access to the care they need.{my}dentist has also supported NHS clinicians financially throughout the pandemic.

Nyree adds: “As much as this has been a health crisis, it has also been a people and economic one. We have been as open and transparent as possible about the approach we have taken, passing on NHS payments to clinicians as appropriate.

“Even before we knew what abatement the NHS in England would apply to contract holders, we confirmed we would pass on payments to NHS clinicians based on what they would have been likely to receive if there wasn’t a pandemic.”

Clinicians joining the team at {my}dentist become part of the largest network of dental practices in the UK and part of one of the largest support networks too.

{my}dentist provides infrastructure that enables clinicians to focus on patient care, including a dedicated Patient Support team, a team of clinical support managers and directors to provide mentoring and guidance backed up by a training academy, regional area management, legal support, human resources and marketing.
